MEASURING BAND TENSION

Measuring Band Tension

1. The first step is to get your bands set up, and grab the scale.

2. Next you need to weigh yourself, and don’t forget this number

3. Now you need to place the scale under the bands, and pull the bands into the position that  they will have the most tension in the lift. Whether it is the squat, bench, or deadlift, it will be at the end of the concentric portion of the lift, the very top.Hold the bands in this position and step on the scale.

4. Calculator time. At this point, you need to take the weight you just measured, and subtract your body weight. This will give you the tension on ONE side. Make sure you double this amount to get the full band tension

Here is an example, a 180 pound person bench pressing through doubled red minis.

Bodyweight: 180

Weight with bands: 210

Weight with bands-Bodyweight= Band weight per side

210-180= 30 pounds per side

30per side = 60 pounds of band tension
